History of Logistics

Logistics has a long history, which finds its first developments around the time of the Roman Empire. Attention to the supply of goods was essential for the proper functioning of the state . The Romans were the first to study an efficient logistic system for resource management and above all they built a series of warehouses for storage at the major ports in the most strategic positions. This is where the figure of the logistician was born, a profession that has evolved over time to become what it is today: the logistics manager together with his team of operatives, the warehouse workers.

Logistics has evolved considerably over the centuries, but has accelerated during the belle epoque and during the industrial revolutions. The impact it had under the two world wars should not be underestimated.

With the so-called fourth digital revolution, the IT one, logistics has been strengthened and made accessible to everyone.

This sector, regardless of the technology and automations derived from new digital processes, certainly cannot continue without highly qualified personnel equipped with very important soft skills such as problem solving and inventiveness.

Our team is made up of trained professionals ready to meet all transport and storage needs. The history of logistics still has a long way to go and there will continue to be revolutions, we at Dtc Italia are ready to evolve together with it, continuing to meet the needs of our customers.
